Sedation Dentistry

There are several methods of dental sedation, but at Sherman Cosmetic Dentistry, we employ what we feel is the safest and most dependable method, oral conscious sedation. This technique involves no IV needles, but rather a simple pill that patients take an hour before their appointment. This pill puts patients in a state of utter relaxation, but allows them to remain conscious and able to respond to questions and other verbal cues. They emerge from their appointment with all of the benefits associated with, but absolutely no recollection of, the treatment they received.

Visiting the dentist regularly is essential to maintaining the health of your teeth, gums, and jaw. By diagnosing and treating tooth decay and periodontal diseases in their earliest stages, you can keep your mouth healthy and beautiful. While most adults realize the importance of oral health, anxiety prevents many patients from undergoing necessary dental procedures.

At Sherman CT Cosmetic Dentistry, we believe that fear should never stand in the way of patients receiving the quality care they need and deserve. Put yourself at ease by contacting Dr. Roger E. Oppenheimer, who provides relaxing, worry-free sedation dentistry at his Connecticut practice.

By offering the most advanced technology at his laser dentistry practice, Dr. Oppenheimer is committed to ensuring the most comfortable, efficient care possible. To put patients even further at ease, he may use a method of sedation dentistry known as oral conscious sedation.

Oral conscious sedation relies on pills to relieve anxiety and induce a state of total relaxation. Simply taking the prescribed pill an hour before your appointment will reduce your awareness of the sounds and sensations of the procedure, so you can enjoy a comfortable dental experience. Depending on the severity of your anxiety, Dr. Oppenheimer may provide you with an additional pill to take the evening before your appointment, ensuring that you wake up calm and relaxed on the day of your procedure.

However, after your appointment you will have little to no recollection of the procedure itself, and will feel as though the entire experience lasted mere minutes.

Because we are invested in your comfort, we are proud to provide relaxing sedation dentistry. And because our Connecticut practice is also committed to your safety and well being, a friend or family member will be required to drive you to and from your procedure.
